do good

“If I do good I feel good, If I do bad I feel bad. And that is my religion.” – Abraham Lincoln

Each of us has something within us that guides our actions. The moment we do something we can feel whether what we did was the right thing or the wrong thing. This is our very own internal moral guidance system telling us how to live our lives for the better.

What matters most is not only that we recognize and pay attention to this system, but that we learn from it and use what we learned to…do more good things, because feeling good feels great!

5 DAY THRALLY ACTIVITY (great for kids, too)

  1. Each day this week. Pay close attention to when you feel good and when you feel bad.
  2. Then think about what action you did right before you had that feeling.
  3. At the dinner table talk through what those items were.
  4. The next day remember to do more of the things that made you feel good.

You’d be surprised how often this simple activity to “do good” enlightens us to bring out our humanity. By paying attention to what we know is good, we draw more of that positive wonder into ourselves and into the world.
