introspection sets you free

Our beings are used to constant stimulation. Everything around us is conditioning various aspects of self to be on constant alert. Sounds exhausting, because it is–literally, exhausting us– that is. What you may not realize is that all this stimulation becomes a world of distraction.  Sadly, the primary element it’s distracting us from is “self.”

Being overextended is part of life. Right? We all have todo lists as long as our arms. Why is it that introspection never makes it on that list? What may surprise you is that for those who value the importance of reflection, they still tend to put themselves last allowing anything to bump focusing on self to another day or maybe the day after.

I’m just too busy.

An underlying reason this continues to happen is because introspection, frankly, is incredibly uncomfortable. We become addicted to the rat race. It becomes our comfort zone. As we put ourselves into a place of introspection our frustration grows when we can’t quiet our minds. This makes us feel like failures. What you should know is we aren’t built to be failures. We are built to be learners, survivors, thrivers.

Try, try, and try again.

Our neural pathways are wired around our current chaos clouding our days. The goal is to rewire ourselves for optimal growth. By making introspection part of this rewiring, we open ourselves up to so much more. You owe yourself more.

You owe yourself a minimum of 10 minutes each day turning your focus inward. You owe it to those around you, too. Because introspection is the key to the better you. The right introspection can set you free.  Sidenote:  Don’t let your time for introspection move into ruminating on something you cannot change or harming.

Use your Wellbeing Practice to take these steps:

  1. Look inside yourself.
  2. Determine how to fuel your being.
  3. Act on that knowledge in a positive way.

Each of these is a step in the right direction bringing you closer to achieving sustainable wellbeing. No misstep is a failure. They’re merely opportunities to learn and try again the next day.

Why not learn more about introspection?
